Summary of Sermon:
This week continued a series on the promised seed of the Old Testament. We observed that the serpent slaying seed would also be a nation blessing seed. In the sermon, the big idea was that we need someone who blesses the nations.
First, we need someone who blesses the nations, and Isaac wasn’t Him.
Second, we need someone who blesses the nations, and you aren’t Him.
Third, we need someone who blesses the nations, and Jesus is Him.
Summary and Reflection:
Read Genesis Chapter 22 verses 1-19. In this passage, we are shown that we need a serpent slayer.
- What does Yahweh command Abraham? (verses 1-2)
- What does Abraham do? ( verses 3-8)
- What clues do we have that Abraham believes Isaac will return with him? (verses 5,8)
- What happens as Abraham is about to sacrifice Isaac? How does this point to Christ? ( verses 9-14)
- What promise does God reaffirm from the Abrahamic covenant? ( verses 15-19)
